anj8488, do you run regional or otr? Do you really get home every weekend? I have a freind that is looking to go to work over there and that is waht recruiter told him. He lives in Auburndale area. He saked if I knew anything about them from my trucking days (which I might return to if the mechanics shops don't pick up work, but that is a whole different story) and back in the day, they were not that great. I have seen a few new trucks at the truck stop when I did a road call so it looks like they are getting better equipment, finally. He said he is comfortable with the pay as long as he can get home on the weekends to house sit his sick dad. His mom works the weekends and that will be his only downfall. I just hate to see him quit a local gig if he really won't get home on the weekends. Thanks ahead for your response.

With him being that close to the terminal he could see the house quite a bit. Right now im out 7 days and take my 34 at home. I see the terminal about twice a week and my GF stays the night with me so it works out even better ( I live about 70 miles away so driving home then back sucks). I left a zephyrhills acct which ran us to Miami and back and that had me leaving Sunday evenings and back home friday morning. However if you live near the terminal you could potentially see the house every other night. But, there is no guarantee he will get on that acct. There was only 3 of us doing it. In general we have ALOT of Florida freight so getting home isn't hard at all. I've been here a hair over a year and 95% of what I done has been Fl and GA. Haven't seen a mountain or a single snow flurry this year.

Lol. When I was at Link I had the joy of running a P&G load from GA to MA.
I still think P&G loaded the wrong trailer and that was supposed to be for another company to run. I took a 34 in RI so that gave them a few days to find something to get me back south.

I see us doing more of those runs. About a week ago they sent out a message that P&G awarded them a hefty amount in freight for good service.

What about your equipment? I have seen some really bad stuff out there, but know for certain that you guys also have new equipment. What are the chances of a new driver getting into the newer equipment over the older equipment? Would that be something to tell him to enforce to the recruiter that he will sign on if new equipment?

I told him to just talk to the recruiter about his situation on needing to be home to help out his mom and see what they can do and offer him. He just wants to get home to checkup on his dad often.

Honestly the chances of him getting one of the newer trucks would be rare. They hand them out based on seniority, safety, on time del rate and MPG.

We have pulled most of our washita equipment ( gray trailers and mid roof freightliners) so alot of our junk is being phased out. The Lakeland yard looks like a graveyard with all the old equipment being pulled. Our maintenance system is improving so our equipment is in alot better shape. We have alot of owner operators here in Lakeland that quite frankly drive some POS trucks so don't get them confused with us.

The hometime is a good bet though. The DMs and planners will throw loads on you in hoped to convince u to keep running but just stand your ground and they will send you home. We have freight, so miles are not a problem down here in the SE

Spent a cpl days home and got lazy.

Preplanned while at home tho. Deadhead to Lee, Fl for Brundidge, AL. Delivers ASAP and a drop & hook both ends.

Then deadhead to Pennington, AL for St. Marys, GA. Delivers ASAP with D&H at shipper and live unload at Consignee. I was there 2 weeks ago and only took about 15 Mins to unload.
