Listen To older truckers at truckstops

Your truck got mauled up by a moose, a bird crashed through your windshield and attacked you. You were ordered by a cop in NYC to drive over a car. You got a scale master fired because you know someone. You hauled a super secret truck load no one is supposed to know escorted by black cars and complete immunity of all laws. A truck load that had to go to Hawaii so they loaded up your truck and tailer all into a plane. Anyone of these stories I'm marking you as a dumb ###.

 

I have told newbies to "LEAVE RIGHT NOW"! But many times, it was because they stank and the smell was ruining my dinner.

But there had been times I'd tell a newbie to go and take a nap, or catch up on any paperwork, and wait about an hour till it dies down.

SO depending on my mood, and the stink of a newbie, determines what I tell'em.

 

Most ol' timers will keep quiet in the iron skillet. Listen to the rookies talking big.

Unless he meets another ol' timer and we don't talk truck.

They are so fun to listen to, "I had this super secret load........ "

I will say. "I've driven over a car in NYC, dropped some produce on Broadway /98th some little market. ". Happens a lot in a city where parking is a priemum.
If your not out of the city by a certain time you are going to be stuck by a car, while unloading. And forces to crush his fender or more trying to leave.

 

You'll learn with more exp in certain areas on the states you're going to have a back up even if you would have left when that driver said their's going to be a back up.In the heartland of the east coast,during the daylite hrs you'll run into many back ups no matter what time it is.Don't know what time they consider rush hr is but far as im concerned every hr is.Then if its raining or misting its twice as bad.

 

Lol...thats what I'm talking about , you ask me where's phoenix from LA and I will say take the 5 north to Oregon state and continue north about 30 miles and your in PHOENIX !!!!! LOL

We run the west coast and that's about all we do. If drivers ask me about going "back east" I have to tell them that for me Reno is back east. Maybe Sparks. Okay, Salt Lake City if the rate is good enough...but that's it!

We let some of the megas use our place as a drop yard. Strictly drop and hook, the less we deal with those companies the better. Some of the newbie drivers occasionally wander in to the office to ask questions. Some of the questions make us kind of look at each other and wonder how the heck they ever got this far from home without crashing or getting locked up. We answer their questions, send them on their way...and hope we don't see them on the 5 o'clock news.

 

I'm really surprised here! Not a one of you guys mentioned how you had a problem at a scale, and called a US Marshall who came out, closed down the scale and took all the DOT cops to jail! You guys are slipping!
