Doesn't always work that way. I got a ticket in Oregon for not having the proper permit. Turned it in to Swift at the nearest terminal. I had talked with both Swift and the State of Oregon about what I needed to do to get it paid. I decided that to pay it myself would be the easiest on me financially so I called Oregon to make payment arrangements and they said that it was already taken care of. Swift had paid the fine for me before I could tell them not to.

To try to answer the orginal question, driving (speeding etc) and operational (overweight etc) are paid by the driver. Maint issues (tires, airlines etc) are paid by the company.

    AZS Thanks this.

Even if Swift would pay for equipment related fines you still would get CSA points if it gets written on an inspection form.

Some tickets can be issued to the company, that much is true. In that case the company will have to pay the ticket, more than likely you'll also be signing a payroll deduction form in the same amount.

If the run was scheduled such that the only way to complete is to speed, then that one is on the company--5 points.

There are a lot of violations in both the VEHICLE MAINTENANCE and CARGO-RELATED categories that do not penalize the driver with points. Other violations in the same categories could, depending on what they are and what side of the bed the enforcement officer got up from.

With my luck the officer's bed is next to a wall so he can only get out on the wrong side. Do you have a link to anywhere where it lists what gets drivers points and what doesn't by chance. With this whole CSA thing no one really seems to know, its all kinda up in the air. Even looking at the FMCSA website doesn't really provide much good info.

Try this. It may help. There is a lot of informantion on the net. JJ Keller has a CA handbook that a drive showed me the other day that looked helpful.

I see driver's everyday that let the company take care of their tickets. They have open warrants and license suspensions. Don't know if they are tellng me the truth or just using it as an excuse.
