Exactly my point. But have you read some of these posts where they end up driving 2500 miles and bringing home $250.00. It's just a different way of thinking than I'm used to...more like commissioned base pay I suppose that flat rate/hour. I'm just anxious for him to decide and depend on ya'll's experiences to help that decision.
PS No Tarps - I hope you didn't miss the few days of Spring time weather we had here last week.

You are always helpful. I'm anxious for his decision so I can move on the reading the posts about "life on the road" for him. I'm trying to leave this decision up to him, but am convinced he needs to go OTR. But, I still get credit/blame for the last 20 years of being in business After all, I won't be the one out there every day & night. I do drive to Searcy & back each day, but I love it. I listen to at least one complete audio book a week that way.

There are a lot of aches and pains that go with the job. The older I get the harder it is on me. Back in the 80's I did not have cruise control and had a governed truck. I had an on going cramp in my leg from gouging the pedal. A few years ago my left knee started to burn a lot from holding the clutch down in traffic. Lately the burning is in my right knee as well as in my wrist and the pain of the backside from sitting there 10-11 hours a day. I do like the flatbed as I am more active with it and something about securing your own load gives you a job well done feeling rolling down the road.

Hence the decision for him not to do flat beds...leave that for you young guys. Climbing up and down can't be easy on you.
But....I have a bad knee from sitting Indian style at the computer too many years and a bad ankle from overexertion on the treadmill. We just wear out after awhile. -

Well.....generally speaking. Since I turned 50, I can't see, remember anything or have the energy to even try.
