FastSVT - Turns out I was wrong. My husband agreed that they told him they do slip seat. For 20 yrs old, you really seem to have your ducks in a row. I'm impressed.

You could do worse then schneider, at least if he don't make it, they will treat him allright and put him on a bus for home. That idea about the treadmill is not a bad one, if he does a little conditioning, it won't hurt him. Check with web MD to see if thier is a heart smart isometric program he can follow, once he is OTR (over the road) he will want to do some occasonal exercise anyway. drive55cat

The main reason for choosing Schneider was the training reputation. Besides, you guys know better than I that this is a very dangerous profession. The CDL training school is just the beginning of going OTR. I'm sure others may have just as good a program but we are comfortable with what we hear about this one. Personally, I'd be happy to give up $ and hometime just to have that added insurance that he is well trained before he goes solo. With luck, it will turn out beautifully and if not..then God bless them for giving him a start.

Keep in mind also, I *think* that I've read on this site somewhere that sometimes people go to Schneider fresh out of trucking school, and Schneider still wants to put them in their 3 week program which requires an 18 month comittment. Now like I said, I *think* I've read that a couple times. Don't take my word for it as gospel, but do keep it in mind as another avenue of research to explore before making your final decision. -
I don't know if you've used the search funtion yet or not, but surely you can find some info here.

Good luck to you and your husband.
PS, I went to Little Rock back in June to visit a friend. Beatiful city. I stayed at the RedRoof inn in North LR right off 40 on Pritchard Dr. The museum downtown by the river market was a real treat. -

A call to the recruiter is definately in order for tomorrow. Certainly I don't mind the training, but will not pay another $4500 for it!. I know it's complicated, but it's not rocket surgery.
I do have an email from the recruiter saying that as long as he "enrolls within 90 days of his CDL graduation he will not have to pay for their training program". Truition reimbursement for that school is also available. (that I'm sure requires a contract and is not necessary for us.
Good grief....I'm the one frustrated and he's watching a movie!!!
FASTsvt....Yep, LR is a very pretty city. Lots of trees & water and never too cold.
