If you still worked for your LTL company you would of been paid for all of those miles plus your hourly time at the dealership. Most OTR companies screw their drivers daily like that. Giving them the first two hrs when making a delivery. How stupid is that? Plus practical miles. If I run 100 miles pay me for a 100 miles. How stupid is that? What industry do you know other than OTR truckers has to put up with that?

@HiramKingWilliams your biggest mistake was posting your intentions on here. God forbid you have a genuine need for information on making a life changing move.

Oh nooo! You're giving up a good job and heading for the doom and gloom of OTR. I too, followed your path. Out of school and into foodservice, then LTL. And I grew bored of it, went OTR.Follow your path, whether bad or good, that's the only way you will figure out what works for you.

Most people on here have lived in safety their whole lives. Risk averse..punch that clock and be grateful for the opportunity.

I agree with that. We’ve all made mistakes. He might be making one too but if it suits him and his lifestyle that’s all that matters. My other half is a director at a private preschool. She has teachers fresh out of college with $130K in student loan debt that make $16 an hour now.

4686DE63-14FA-458F-AC8F-B22D2CC4E2C9.jpeg Here’s another option. Come back to Redding, haul fuel in this truck. Home every night, no chaining, and have a profit share for retirement.

The OP is looking for something to live in. Might be a tad snug in a day cab.

Not to hijack the thread but on the other side of the coin, being a director at a Community College, we have em fresh out of college holding a CTE instructors position, making over 27 bux an hour. and are not worth the 16. Most have no knowledge of the subject area and have never been gainfully employed at anything.
