I'm going to guess it's partially ignorance and partially the word "hotshot" has a negative connotation or stigma attached to it. And probably some experiences with bums. Trucking is trucking and you're either a professional or you're not. The type of equipment doesn't magically mean anything, or it shouldn't in theory.

You that sit in judgement of the hotshot trucks ought to look in a mirror. Getting out of your trucks with your Bermuda shorts, sleeveless t-shirts, no socks, and slides on your feet looking so professional. Throwing your garbage out of the windows at the truckstops and rest areas, then washing it way by dumping your p-bottles in the parking lot. And you ought to look at the professional tarp jobs that are flapping in the wind. The true tarps that are ripped to pieces because they were never secured correctly.

Maybe be we ought to talk about the oversized loads running down the road at more then 73-4 miles per hour. forcing people off the road. Or the ######## that tailgate other people because they want to drive faster. Or there are the idiots that run I-beams and plate steel with straps without corner protectors or safety chains to prevent the load from sliding forward in an emergency stop. And let us not forget the Swift drivers with all the videos of them doing things wrong with their trucks. Along with the idiots that leave their trucks unattended at the fuel pumps.

The list goes on and on. There are good Class 8 as well as good hotshot drivers. Then again their are some poor ones also. Just because you drive a bigger truck does not make you a better driver.
