If you know what you are doing on percentage, you take the deadhead into consideration before taking the load. If you can get the rate you want or need after figuring the deadhead, then you take the load. If not, then find something else.jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
Figuring it on every single load will hamper a person and have them taking cheap, close as opposed to deadheading farther for better. Always check it per load but many times if you look at how it affects your previous 5 to 10 loads you will see that those other loads paying well help take the sting out of and cover a possible 200 mile deadhead on one load that by itsself would not seem worth it. Empty unpaid miles always come out better in my book than bridging gaps with cheap heavy.

There are several sites regarding bad payers and fraudsters in the trucking business. The one I consult daily is INSIDE TRANSPORT, it is a free forum that works of donations it has saved me a few thousand over the last 2 years. Just search in google and you will find it. It is mainly for Canadians but offers insights into American Carriers and brokers as well.
rollin coal and windsmith Thank this. -
Is your DOT number and/ or insurance not good?

Is there a way for me too look at load boards with out my authority or paying the fee. I've been doing extensive research in being an independent driver and I wanted to get an idea of what the average load pay and destinations look like. I have read what drivers get but that's not enough concrete info for me. Any help would be appretiated. Also I live in the north east if that helps any.
