You should be getting the rate confirmation from the broker on any load your friend books. It's as simple as the broker copies you in on the email where they send it to your friend. He should not have a problem with that. If he does he cannot be trusted and you better run away. Don't worry about a fuel surcharge. This is spot freight. Negotiate a flat rate and move on with your life. It's not like your friend is going to get rich off 10%. Hammer brokers on the rates and don't run cheap.

    Good Morning from Southern TX.
Me and my son both drive - ( I'm semi retired ) and know my son is thinking about buying hes own T+T in 2015 , As company drivers I never got into the company's Bess or even that of a O/O , so we have been picking brains of O/O as much as we can. - Question ? - The fuel surcharge is not part of the load board advertisement of the load and has to be negotiated ? ... you guys are the best for info and all I can say is GOD bless. And I keep the coffee pot hot........................................................................................................................

When you're getting a load from a broker off the load board, fuel surcharge DOES NOT exist. You negotiate the price to pull that load today. If you enter into contracted rates with shippers, or if you work for a carrier that pays different percentages on linehaul vs fuel surcharge, that is when you'd worry about a fuel surcharge.

I m both user of getloaded and truckersedge.net , this being my most used.
im thinking of dumping get loaded soon, it looks like TQL has ownership on it, somehow.
I will NEVER haul for TQL in my life time.

The best thing to do is run in one lane and try to get your own customer's atleast one way it's the only way to survive in this business, most brokers are taking off alot of money off the top by basically doing nothing, i come across some broker's who never been bother to know anything about customer they just get the load from somewhere else and then when you reach at shipper finding all kind of surprises. I wish there were brokers who would take 10% but i'm finding out there cut is more like 30-40% which is insane and we truckers keep still hauling. TQL will have one load but they will post 15 times from different cities pickup and drop and just destroy the board, so some good broker's don't even bother to post there loads..

Just called Transplace on this load from frozen roads every where in Cherry Hill NJ to Smyrna GA approx 800 mils run full load 42k. Market today looks to be very strong for this area. The market opened up with 46.09 posts/ minute and the total current posting is showing approx 3500 posted loads in the 150 radius with 3.6 loads/truck ratio. I asked for Tyler Vanlanding ext 1647 and they would not connect me to the intended person and said the load pays whopping $1000. Wow
by the way who is working for them and how is he able to survive ???

I read somewhere on this board a recommendation from a O/O that made sense. He basically said, "run loads for the shipper, then use brokers to get back home." My question is, what kinds of businesses do I need to approach? Who would you guys talk to? What would be my value ad to them to get them interested in me vs the trucking companies they're currently using? Thanks!
