Load boards and lease purchase on a truck.

Do you mean choose your loads from an internal load board of their own freight or are you talking spot freight on the public load boards?

 

Technically nobody can force dispatch you if you’re leased to a carrier anyway, so you can pick and choose what you want to do. If you’re planning to lease to a carrier then I’d find one that has good contract freight of their own. Nonsense in leasing to a carrier to haul load board freight.

 

Usually the point of leasing a truck is to get their dedicated work…. Not cheap load board garbage.

What you want is irrelevant, the truck running a profit is all that matters

“Self Dispatch” is the correct term.

If you obtain your own truck from Lone Mountain and lease it onto a carrier I strongly suggest that you also get your own trailer.

 

If u want to run spot market freight just go get ur own authority

bryanrutledge, before the load board question, run the numbers on the lease itself. Lone Mountain trucks are older, so budget a repair fund from day one, not after the first breakdown. On the freight side: if you lease onto a carrier, you want their contract freight, not the public boards. Board rates right now barely cover fuel and the lease payment on a used truck. If picking your own loads is the whole point for you, own authority is the honest answer, but only after a year of savings and a truck that is already paid for. I made the mistake of going the other way around and it took two years to dig out.
