I have a friend that used to dispatch for Landstar. He watched her double broker loads. He was telling me for the most part, they try to take care if their own. Now the outside carriers, he has watched her convince a guy to take a load super cheap. He saw her cancel loads the same way the OP mentioned, and then get another driver to haul it for pennies.

Its Florida. Nobody does well coming out of there....where are they located? They probably wanted to get back in familiar territory with people they are familiar with so they can make it up on the back end. Some folks deadhead out but others will just take something to keep some kind of flow in there. Plus, if they got enough going in, they'll be fine with that cheap load.

Flip side of this: The amount of times I have a guy call me after I've already booked a load and offer to take it for a couple hundred less than the other guy is staggering. I don't play that game, myself. It's just not worth it in the end.

I have a friend at TQL. He said an agent who cancels loads last minute to put on a cheaper truck will get 1 warning then fired the second time. They will review the calls and investigate. CALL MANAGEMENT on them and get these turds out of there. Right now big brokerages are eager to trim payroll.. Dont just let it go. Keep your proof and make a stink.

Or I can just not do business with them any longer, which is exactly what I decided to do after the last cancellation. I hate dealing with brokers anyway. The phone apps through Convoy and Uber are a lot less stress, particularly Convoy.

If uber had a bid option it would on par with convoy.

That would help, but their method of getting detention is a joke, and they deny it even when you follow the rules. Their customer service is greatly lacking as well.

I just got setup with convoy so i could see for myself. Random search.. 200 mile radius of dothan alabama, flatbed, all week, going anywhere.

    Zero loads.

There are 172 right now on DAT within 150 miles of dothan for today alone. I will stick with brokers. Some of them are quite pleasant. Their kids need shoes too.
