I have a friend that used to dispatch for Landstar. He watched her double broker loads. He was telling me for the most part, they try to take care if their own. Now the outside carriers, he has watched her convince a guy to take a load super cheap. He saw her cancel loads the same way the OP mentioned, and then get another driver to haul it for pennies.

Flip side of this: The amount of times I have a guy call me after I've already booked a load and offer to take it for a couple hundred less than the other guy is staggering. I don't play that game, myself. It's just not worth it in the end.

There are 172 right now on DAT within 150 miles of dothan for today alone. I will stick with brokers. Some of them are quite pleasant. Their kids need shoes too.Dale thompson, PE_T and PPNLE Thank this.
