99% of the time if a posted load doesn't have a posted rate I don't call. There's thousands of loads posted, you got to stand out from the rest.
That kinda remind me of trucks posted on a Friday to anywhere and you call with a 500 mile load and they say not enough miles. lol.
Exactly.... " Sir i see your truck in Laredo says "going anywhere" i have a load to Dallas, interested?" - "No not enough miles i want out of TX" " Ok we have TX to CA, TX to MD, TX to IL, TX to FL would you be interested? Let me know your rate." " No we dont go to any of those states."
The Broker doesn't actually have the load. the customer sent it out to multiple brokers. Or the broker doesn't have a clue what the line haul rate should be to the truck
Also correct, customers send out spot freight looking for a truck or a rate, usually on a tough to cover lane.
This is 100% what it takes to get multi picks and drops. We can be accurate about the details over the load and if they hang up on me then that's fine. on to the next one.
I had a TQL agent on the phone this morning calling them about a load for the first time in several years - guess I needed a refresher on why to not ever do that again. The guy would not give me any information on the load, just kept saying "general consumer goods" so to find out more details I had to get him to send over the rate con. Which as you know doesn't mean you actually have the load. Turns out the top secret information was it being airfreight picking up at a busy international airport and having to jump through multiple hoops to do so that delivered to near my house at an auto parts supplier. I gave that bull**** back to him so fast. They reposted it 45 different ways after I did that lol
I had another broker call me the other day because my posting on the same lane was higher than his and he was mad about it. Well, i covered my loads for the day and went to happy hour while he was trying to find a truck all day. We might be a little strategic on the postings to generate calls, but brokers shouldn't need or want to lie about the load detail when pitching it to get you to book it.
