How do you worry about it being legal when you are ignoring part of the rules regarding what constitutes legal?

It's always best to check with the states DOT.

 

Because you know which states will give you grief over a stupid ### thing like maybe a foot too long. As long as the weight is legal on the tandems, drive and steers then you roll. California is the only state that has ever actually checked the distance. If I'm that close, as the OP was, slide and ride. Especially with a #### storm coming!
