I ran with the tandems well past 43' on the rear axle through Maryland, WVA, PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, OK and Texas and didn't get a second glance from anyone.insertnamehere Thanks this.
-
Probably not going far anytime soon anyways given the weather in NE Colorado
-
Wisconsin the bridge length is 41 ft from center of kingpin to rear axle which I am at right now is how the tandems ended up 1140 overweight right now
Dominick253 Thanks this. -
I've only ever been measured in California and Connecticut. Not even in Tennessee who has a reputation for doing that too.
-
Wisconsin is 43' to CENTER of tandems, roughly the same as illinois 45'-6" to rear.

There's your chart.
IL and WI are your only states that might care. This is one of those things where you should do your best to set your 5th wheel so its at 12,000 steers and your trailer tandems right at 34000. I don't think you will be overlength anyway.
This is one of those things where if you have a good attitude and you show them (by their scale readout) you did the best to do your job, they will likely look the other way.
This is not something to go back to the shipper to tell them to rework it to try to prove some kind of point that "you are in charge". You should be telling them how you want it loaded anyway. -
I have a 2016 motorcarrier atlas is where I am getting my bridge lengths from and I dont take chances when it comes to weigh stations
TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -
The atlas isn't always accurate. That 43' from kingpin to center of tandems comes directly from the Wisconsin government webpage.

Then go around them.......Straight Stacks, RERM, Iron-Man and 8 others Thank this.
