    Hi guys!
Do carriers get extra pay if shipper loads trailer incorrect/overweight?

We were loaded with almost 9,000 lbs in rear axle & had to go back to shipper for load to be reworked. There was nothing we could do to fix the overweight issue so shipper reworked load.
It’s definitely time consuming so do brokers pay for this? And if so how much?

short answer....NO. As you're aware, drivers do lots of "free" stuff daily.

The good news is it's mostly a rare occurrence.
MOST shippers load enough of a certain product that they know what they're doing.

But, sometimes you get a goofball that just sticks it on with no sense of distribution.

IF your lucky, you might make some from detention.

Make sure the shipper covers any late fees at delivery.

    NO.

Its illustrates how they like to SHOVE 70 ton of free stuff onto YOUR back, YOUR fuel, YOUR aggravation, and YOUR engine. They are NOT buying two or three trucks to move that stuff. Oh no. Jam it onto you and gamble that you are just a clueless steering wheel holder unable to understand the overloaded environment you are in.

I always go back to shipper to rework the #### thing. (One exception, Sea Cans. Once doors shut, we are leaving.)

Them Yankees in the NE burn me sometimes when I show up AGAIN and say to them take 4 pallets off. Too heavy.

    WOT?!

Yes, what part of take off 4 pallets do you not understand?

See if I ever get dispatched back there again.

YES ... It's called detention pay, if you're an o/o dealing with a broker.

If you're an employee, detention, plus additional miles and stop pay.

    Krod2 Thanks this.

Thank you all for your responses! load had to be reworked twice spent 8 hours at shipper & broker refused to pay anything additional.
