Thanks for the correction. As I said some one told me that years ago and I never verified it.

2 maybe 3 mm. A small bit of fraying. Nothing to get excited about.

In the CVSA Out Of Service Criteria (link, pg. 33-34 *opens to pdf file):

"The tiedown contains cut(s), burn(s), and/or hole(s) through the webbing which total more than that shown in the Defect Classification Table.

    4" (100mm) strap = 3/4" (19mm)

All cut(s), burn(s), and/or hole(s) through the webbing are additive across the width of the strap face for its entire effective length. But only one defect is additive for any specific width."

According to the diagram table, cuts along the same edge of the strap are not added together, but cuts on the one edge, in the middle and the opposing edge are. So as long as each cut is less than 3/4" along one edge of the strap, you're good, but as soon as they are in more than one place across the face, they all add up together.

I don't like guessing with this stuff (especially now that I'm my company's official driver trainer), I always go to the source.

Hurst, ronslam, tony97905 and 4 others Thank this.
