    Hate to say it, but you don't plead guilty to a crime you didn't commit or have something to do with. Hell you don't even plea bargain to a lesser charge if you didn't have anything to do with it.

    I think that some people would plead guilty to something that they may not have done if they were presented with a plea bargain where they would plead guilty for little or not time in prison compared to shooting the dice and taking a chance on a long prison term. If someone is charged with a crime and doesn't have the resources to hire a good lawyer, they can get screwed by the system. Some police and prosecutors are only interested in closing a case, even if it means charging an innocent person. The prisons are full of innocent people. That has been proven on numerous occasions with dna tests on those wrongly convicted of rape and murder. I know that there are many in prison who are guilty. Most are likely guilty. But, not all who have been convicted are guilty of the crime that they have been charged.
