The best time to tell him is your choice, you know him better then us.
The live load means you did not ask how they were going to load it.
That is something you will have to change in the future.
Your the captain,it is you who should tell them how to load your truck.
This isn't a attack on you, just friendly advise to stop you getting into trouble in the future.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
@daf105paccar no offense taken by advice. This industry is a constant learning experience and this no doubt was a first for me, they've always loaded me decent everywhere I went. Had I known they was going to go three high in the middle and go two high on the back and front I'd of put straps at the nose as well or load locks.

You have a day to fix. Find another box or put old one back together.put load lock up to prevent it happening again.
Clean up mess.take one melon from three other boxes. I doubt they count all melons. Probably weigh them if anything.
What they don't know,they don't know.
Good luck. -
They ship watermelons on flatbed too.

You could probably get that empty box off the top and reload it somewhere else. The less work they need to do to unload it will probably help you.
Extra work makes people mad and you know how the damage claim will be written when they are thinking of four letter words. -
You can haul anything on a open deck, just tarp it! Even a multi piece overweight load, don't forget the tarp.!!skellr Thanks this.

They will load a lot of produce like they and putting straps or bars in front is generally not possible or feasible. You climb up on the product and squeeze juice out of one of or bust one of them and the entire pallet/box will be rejected. Best thing to do is learn to drive right and not to upset the load unnecessarily. You already admitted you over-reacted with the brakes to the situation.

This time of the year watermelon receivers very picky, If it was the beginning of the watermelon harvest not so much. Cross your fingers and wish for the best OP.

Whole watermelons aren't usually reefered when they get to the supermarket. Sliced up ones are.

I just took this of a guy getting his rig impounded for a wrecked melon load.
tucker Thanks this.
