Just in response to the above posts, there are a few things in trucking to learn early. Eat when you can, sleep when you can, shower when you can. You never know when you may get the next chance.
Thats true. This guy could have either eaten or showered with out much problem. But if the dispatch was telling him that AS SOON AS that load showed up you have to haul and it'll be here any minute if he is like me under that pressure he wouldn't be able to relax enough to sleep. Unless REALLY tired. Now if dispatch said he would be there in 3 hrs then thats a different story. It gives your mind the idea that you can relax for 2.5 hrs and sleep and still be ready to go when the other driver shows up.
He couldn't find any showers in the town. I guess that it was a lesson for him to not believe his dispatcher. His dispatcher told him that the other load was already loaded. Ha, not even close to that. Another learning experience for him out on the road.
Its easy to tell when dispatchers, recruiters, lawyers and politicians are lying. Its when their mouth is running.
