One of my friends works at Lafarge in palatka. He told me they do everything that way there's no liability and the trucker doesn't get hurt on their property. Thought it was pretty cool.

All I tarp is big stuff, and a couple of straps pay dividends to saving the tarp and keeping it tight.
Bungees dont cut it when tarping oversize loads, square or not.
Dont care what anyone thinks, I pay for my own tarps. So unless someone else wants to buy them for me, will continue to do it this way and not tear my stuff up. It is in no way at all load securement, although Mr DOT will count it as such.
2 sets of straps on this one, on the front/top tarp. Go side to side and they are 2- 2" ratchet straps hooked together on top of the crate.
Martinpeterbilt_2005 Thanks this. -
Some load like this load of Dow Chemical insulation I'm on are all strapped on the outside because the shipper requires it that way. I've used straps to hold my tarps when I'm running behind and dont feel like using a #### ton on bungies. Usually when its a plate steel load that has a tarp requirement, or in thte occasional shingles load that requires a tarp

Say you was hauling some jet engines that was on steel skids and the shipper wanted it tarped, would this be a good case to first strap it then tarp and use bungies and another strap over tarp in front and back to keep from balloning?

Im not to sure myself. Id have to see the setup before I can honestly say how to secure it.
