I don't think it would be easy to write a program for a full automation because, beside the geographical locations, rate and cargo type, there are too many unknowns that decide that a load is worth taking or not e.g. Who the shipper/receiver is, appointment windows, who the broker is.
If you think about it, any load board does the job. A carrier does a search in a given area to be matched with candidate loads from the area which were posted by shippers or brokers, and then you still call to find out details or negotiate terms. There are apps like Convoy or Uber where you have all of it laid out and all you need to do is to click and book if the rate is good for you.
If this is about logistics where a carrier has an X amount of drivers ready to pick up in an area, then this is a different type of a problem. -
I actually think it’s not too far off from working. You think about, Uber is already doing it. It’s working for them. Yes, they do have less variables but not none and it does work.

Robo broker. It's coming. It's already here. Robinson is already getting heavy into auto/robo brokering.
Soon. Everyone is going to have to actually get off their ### and do something.spacelink Thanks this. -
For bottom feeders on both end, yes. Easy dry van loads sure. Uber CHR etc..
Otherwise no. Carriers are not created equal. Nor are complex loads. Human problem solving and coordination has its place.
Think of a over dimensional load with a hired rigging crew, a reefer load with 4 produce picks and the melons may be the wrong size, strawberries a bit rough, does the buyer still want them?
Brokers, dispatchers, drivers, owners, buyers, all still have to work together as a team. A carrier noticing an issue with the product before it gets shipped can save the shipper or buyer lots of money. May loose a load but what comes around goes around.Last edited: Sep 28, 2022
