Right on.. sometimes things happen.. a good company will either have you relay it off somewhere for another driver to get later if it's gonna be a super long wait or tell you to go find a truck stop and pay you good while you wait.. at end of week you still should have a good pay day and drove less miles

If you pull a reefer, expect some long load or unload times. It's part of the gig. Dry van it is usually better, but I have had up to 24 hours in the dock with a dry van.

If you want action then go tanker or flatbed. I have pulled a flatbed for the last two years. It's rare to be waiting to load or unload.

Well, I see the OP is trying to reverse calculate his potential earnings as a new truck driver. Rest assured almost every recruiter will tell you they are a 90% drop and hook company with 99% no touch.

The implication in that lie you will hear, is that you as a new driver will dropping and hooking trailers at your leisure while running out your 70 beside the wheel all the time earning money. Even CPM should add up fast if that is the case. Don't worry because that is not the case, and the cents don't add up fast.

As a new driver working for a mega, you will be spending the majority of your time babysitting others that are not doing their jobs. Sitting at the dock is just one instance of that.

While mega crap companies imply they pay you for your time sitting and waiting for some dock workers to get their ### in gear; most never actually pay that "detention pay." They got a litany of excuses why they shouldn't pay you for their time and work.
