Loading & transporting 32ft-40ft Logs

    Anyone have experience with transporting logs on flatbeds? The requirements, safe practices, etc.? Can the driver just use pipe stakes or some type of side rail? I have a FTL project coming up potentially transporting logs from Herber City, UT→ OR and Whiteriver, AZ→OR. I also have no idea how to find drivers specializing in this field either around these locations. Any advice or help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    I hauled em once used pipe stakes and they had us chain the stakes together about halfway up

    How high or large were those pipe stakes? As tall as the logs were?

    No the logs were higher by maybe 3 or 4ft, so i used just about every strap i had like i usually do

    They arent very large i've seen some sturdier ones, one of mine actually bent a little when getting unloaded

    Yeah I have seen that some people truly just make there own so I guess it just depends on the amount of stress someones pipe stakes can handle

    Can you be a bit more specific about what these logs are. There are a few ways the loads could be prepped. That could make a bit of difference.

    Using pipe stakes will work if they are sturdy. Best to use log bunks. Some places will rent them.

    This place makes bunks for flatbeds, scroll down about middle of page.

    I think they are Ponderosa Pine Logs. Each load is roughly 45,000 lbs I think. I will check out that link too thanks!
