Bet $50 in his hand would've got you a trailer. Everything is a game, I play with no rules because I wanna win at any cost.
Edit: And no one forced anyone to haul cheap freight. I DH hundreds of miles a week because I don't haul freight for a couple of our dispatchers. Nothing against them, but the freight doesnt pay enough for me to waste the time. Guess what? After a month of not running their cheap loads, I somehow started getting loads that paid 3x's as much.

When did this happen? I ran into a similar scenario last time I was in Laredo. Curious if it was part of that.

That's why he got fired for doing stuff like that. I stopped going to Laredo. Agent called me with good paying load to Laredo. I said no, it not worth the trailer problem in Laredo. He said he could get me empty. I asked how because I told him about the 3-4 day waiting list and stuff. That guy Eirne in charge of the trailer list in Laredo was his cousin. He said stop in and see him and I would get a trailer. Sure enough I got empty trailer

When did he get canned?

There are no empties in Laredo.

That was 5 years ago when I was at Landstar. They had some good loads out of Laredo like alcohol or preloaded trailers of new grocery store refrigerated cases or freezers. I always had problem they would not give me the load unless I had empty trailer. I did not have trailer because the one I took to Laredo went to MexicoLast edited: May 14, 2021

You choose your loads by yourself.
You are an independent contractor and not an employee. No benefits.
You can register for the Loadboard demo, to see how much you can make in your area.

Don't use Laredo as an example of what it's like to run for Landstar. Nothing about Landstar is like Laredo except Laredo. I never go there unless I have an MT and am picking up a live load - which has happened only twice in the six years I've been with LS. Landstar for some reason just doesn't know how to run a trucking operation in the unique environment of Laredo.

You need to cycle back in time and read my posts on their Facebook site about Laredo.
