I did class b for 7 yrs finally gave up trying to make a decent wage. There’s a large pool of Drivers looking for class b local work here in SE Mi. Class A Usually $20 hr. I think around $16 per hr. Would be reasonable if you like the Job. It all depends on what they’re able to pay and keep Drivers.I think you should make at least somewhere between you’re steering wage and Top pay.Full Parody or Top pay on avg is usually 18 mo to 3 yrs. for most Jobs. Given the tight Job Market I think you have a good chance at a raise. .05 % plus .04 % ( less than COLA) puts you @ 16.00 hr. With some O.T. hopefully.

Not getting much over time. Busy days I may work for 9 hours or so, slow days I may drive for 5 or 6 hours. My boss lets me sweep up or just twiddle my thumbs to get my 8 hours on the slow days.
I think I’m just going to ask for $17 an hour and see what I get. Really starting to think class a is a good idea. Save some money and go to truck school in the spring and try to find a local p&d or regional line haul type job.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Now Kind Sir, you have entered the Realm of which FEW has ever had the time to realize in all it's glory.
The Realm of the Clock Riders. -
Grass isn't much greener, but the positive is with all endorsements can find what you may really like. No glass ceiling with class a

That’s what I did in 1992 after getting laid off from a Teamster Job at a Meat Co. in 1989. I worked another 3 yrs but never could get back close to $10 hr. Got CDLA and almost doubled my annual pay Driving Local w/ OT.first year at $8.00 hr . 2 yrs later $15.70 hr 60 hrs a week. Thought I was rich!! Lol. Good Luck. I was amazed at the difference I was treated by employers after getting A License. Lots more options. Good Luck.Either wayChrontar Thanks this.

The grass is definitely greener, pay wise. I’ve talked to guys with class a around here and they’re making much better money. I love my current job too. It’s not particularly stressful, my boss is pretty laid back about things, corporate isn’t constantly breathing down our necks about stuff, but I just need more money. 17-18 an hour is better, of course, ( I’m betting they don’t give it to me ), I can get by on it, but I want to do more than just get by. Thanks for all the replies guys.

Around 18/hr is pretty average, but I doubt you're going to actually get that. A 10% raise would bring you up to $16.35/hr. In order to hit that $18/hr marker, you'd need a 21% raise, which is why I don't you're going to get that
Around here, $18/hr is good money. -
Yes not just waiting. But actually a form of waiting under the Bosses Elbow on the job clock waiting to go right any minute. Never mind that it's 5 hours later and everyone has gone home.
Thats the other BIG challenge in Arkansas, You get a workforce of about 30 plus scattered and you will never find anyone for a few days, until at least one of them chooses to come out of that hat. -
Whats the cost for a decent apartment and car insurance in your area? Here in Jersey, you can find class B work paying $18-20 to start.
