i have had a cdl for almost a year herkloader. just looking at options to make more money outside of a Class B truck with no "A" experience. Thanks for the advice MarkSteven i went to school in Salinas and was given a list of every company in the area with trucks. got lucky on one which is where I stand now but its not a desirable trucking job-i haul waste in a tanker. I started this thread to seek advice on the big companies (or small) that would gve me a chance or refresher. I can drive...just according to the insurance i cannot.

Well hopefully you find something good.
I was gonna settle for 29c a mile when I found my new job at 44c a mile.
I got my job through doing just what you are doing as well as asking everyone I know that drives a truck what they thought.
The company I went with has a pretty good reputation as in all the drivers like it.

I took odd driving jobs and a year and a half to find the job that I did.
    Something will come along.

It's hard to leave a gf to go OTR but at least kids aren't involved. She has a ton of family living in Williston and have offered us a place. Would be perfect bc that's what I'm looking at but how do you move a surfer California girl to a place like that haha

I worked for Super Therm in Williston for awhile.
If you have a facebook account check out Bakken Fail of the day.
There are some high paying jobs, but also a lot of scumbags there.
It was like being in the wild wild west.
If you go that route always check your six!

In your situation, it would be easier to do some online applications and be specific as to what you want.
    Here's some starters to try:
Google : truck driver jobs (fill out one application per website)
    also try:
    TruckJobSeekers.com
    gotruckers.com
    drive4us.com
