that's actually what i had thought about later...."could he have switched over to something else"?

but then IF he was heavily in debt (and we really do not know, but killing off his cows might be an indication so the bank doesn't take them) the bank(s) may have denied him any more start up capital for another venture.

he could have leased some od his land, he could have leased some space to house other animals, and so on and so forth..

a lot of options some days..

then too, was he IN DEBT, or was he battling some disease, like cancer, alzhiemers, etc..??

no one ever really knows what goes thru the monds of others, in a crisis....

sad situation, especially if he had a wife, and kids, and maybe grand kids......

they have to live with his suicide, with all the questions many of us have, but in time, we WILL forget that farmer, where as the family cannot.

This is called 'Planned Obsolescence' - meaning it was made to be broken.... everything is now, for how could you sell more crap if something lasted for more than 5 years?.... Really irks me that this is becoming common practice with expensive things, like electronics & vehicles.... The 60 day warranty tells you about everything you need to know about the product. It'll last 61 days.

the cows were property of the bank's mortgage, as such, the bank was going to take them, all the equipment, anything the farmer leveraged for loans.

the bank will still go ahead and have a big auction...ever see that movie with Sam Shepard and Jesica Lange about farm bankruptcy's..?? a real true story on the plight of the farmers and over leveraging themselves, year after year.

can anyone blame that farmer for his bankruptcy..??

well, yes, in a way, he could have dug in and did some of the tnings i had mentioned a few posts earlier.

so in the end, it's his own fault he went under.

sad, i hate to see any farm lost to the bank, but don't we say pretty much about newbies buying thier own trucks..??

sad too that he off'd himself, but it does happen.

you gotta treat trucking, farming, every buisness LIKE A BUSINESS, and set aside personal opinions for more ways to garner more cash flow.

you drinking all the milk you can and all the dairy products you can just ain't gonna save no one....

what will YOU DO, if you or anyone in YOUR family developes allergies to dairy products some day..??

trust me that CAN happen as it HAS happened to me......i used to drink milk and put ice cubes in the glass......real cold icy milk...tasted GREAT

now i can not have dairy products..........would i continue to buy dairy products just to support the local dairy farms in my area..??

    i think not.

    and life.......goes on.........

Nothing better than raw milk. As far as bacteria goes, look at how the farmer keeps his property and most importantly, treats his cows. If those stalls are clean, that milk will be good to go.

Terminal velocity for an average sized adult human over land is around 120mph. 50 story building or 15,000 feet out of a plane.
