i dont know if this is federal law or just state to state but in my state you only have to loag if your outside of something like a 150 mile radius of home terminal

if a driver is doing a local crossing the state line in and out all day how does he have to log it on his driver daily log. does he flag it local or does he have to show every trip crossing the state line back and forth all day

Only difference is there are no intrastate exemptions allowed. You must follow interstate regulations.
In a nutshell crossing the state line doesn't matter for the local exemption. You must meet the following 3 criteria to "log local"
1. No more than 100 air mile radius from terminal.
2. No more than 12 hours on duty.
3. Must stop/start at same location.
If you do all 3, then you can do a timecard, if not you must do a full graph log.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
