you sound like a good boss lol
really i just didn't understand hourly.. overtime would equivalent a 20-25k bonus per year or more.
we are talking about trucking not a typical 9-5 so i would expect at least that much worth of overtime.
you'e right though, money isn't everything. which is why i decided to take the chance and make the change.

    MartinFromBC and Oxbow Thank this.

OT is 1.5 for 8-11 hours, and 2 times after 11 hours, is what I pay.

Knowing what I know after almost 20 years of having my class 1 I'd personally say go construction, your going to learn more in 2 minutes with the equipment operator's you work with than in 10-15 years putting it on yourself. You may make less up front but the knowledge is valuable, believe me I wish I had someone show me stuff operator's know years ago. And unless you find a job like MartinFromBC provides you probably won't make much less. Construction means long days when they're there and rain days, snow days off season etc

I would prefer the same, except I think I messed up the nerves in my hands playing hockey forever. Now my hands become bricks after too long.. hoping the gear I bought for this winter will work better.

The couple construction companies I’ve seen lately are requiring a ton of experience, but I think I really lucked out, This spot I landed with the local trucking company I think will be the best of both worlds with pay right on track with anywhere else

i’ll still be home daily.. seems like it will be a nice ease into building the experience ,and they seem pretty willing to show me the ropes. hopefully all goes well.. it’s more then I was asking for, thank god
Especially when I know they’ve got 13+ axel configurations rolling around.
I’d throw their name out there but I haven’t even started haha

Oxbow, MartinFromBC and Nothereoften Thank this.
