I get payed for every minute spent working,.........................

I work for a local manufacturer, pulling a flatbed regionally (5 states). It's hourly, get paid from when I punch in to when I punch out. Mostly 9-10 hrs a day, time and a half after 8. Occasional Saturday, but this time of year, usually not.
Pretty good gig, check with some of the factories in your area.DI11 Thanks this. -
I have one of the best local jobs a driver can get,..... -
Local guys, many times, can put in more hours and miles than OTR guys based solely on the fact that a lot of times they haul dedicated freight, in my case the freight is trash which stays busy year round. I run a few different accounts that allow me not only to haul trash, but do some other stuff around town but I've still been able to put 105,000 miles on my truck this year, I have one co-worker who has put 140,000 miles on his truck this year alone, he's home every night but averages 2,700 miles per week. If anyone else has hauled trash they know it's a strenuous job with a ton of hours and a ton of miles involved. Just a little insight into another facet of local driving, it's not all that it's cracked up to be sometimes.

I run daily hauling auto parts from Ohio to Chicago for about 415 miles round trip and live load/unload on each end. I can normally finish my day in about 11 to 11.5 hours...

I would like to hear more if anyone is interested.

There's nothing really to hear. Some companies want to run you until you've used every hour you can, while some are pretty laid back. There is no set amount for local driving; it varies wildly from on to another.

I use to run from aberdeen,md to the tip of nj to a ikea up there I can't remember the area name but its a mile from newyork. I use to start at 3 am or 2am depending on the load. I would go up to perryville,md to get my trailer from that ikea distr center and haul as up 95 to the turn pike and jus ride for hours . By the time I got there I would still be sleepy so I would get my pillow , kick off my boots , cover my window with my extra coat and be knocked out for two hrs . When I was done I would either go back to aberdeen ,md or get another load from pa or nj . I was averaging about 480 to 500 miles a day. But now 140 lol 9 to 10 hrs days.
