Columbia, NJ rest area. I'm still 50 miles away from tomorrow's delivery but it's in a bad truck parking dead zone, even for NJ. I could have driven past the place to a rest area about 30 miles past it but I'd probably spend another 10 minutes trying to get turned around to the direction I need to be. I'm only 25 miles from home but figured it wasn't worth dropping and hooking just to leave out at 2 am again. That'd chew up more of my 14 hours than the 50 mile drive from here anyway. ###### if you do, ###### if you dont.

A white Volvo took his place this morning around 3. I'm almost certain it's the same spot. If not, it's really close. I asked the driver of he was ok and if he needed anything and got told to #### off. Okie doke, down the road I go. After that response I wanted to ask him how he managed to park it there with dry roads but I figured I'd let him save up his cheerful demeanor for highway patrol.mickeyrat, mindes, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this.

Lol what is it with that stretch of 80? Yesterday there was a very large oversize pulled over at about the 40, w/b, with two bears. You could smell his brakes from a mile away. Not sure what happened there.

I ran into an old hand a while back in seville. Said he'd been driving for 36 years for schneider, seen all lower 48. After chatting it up and explaining to him what I do and my daily route, he said that in his opinion, 80 in PA is the most dangerous road in the country. I kind of questioned it but he brought up some good points. The point that I absolutely agreed with was the rapid changing weather conditions. Last weekend coming home, I witnessed a 24 degree drop within 35 miles then all of a sudden it was back to the baseline temp. You know the weather in Clearfield and the weather in Snow Shoe can be night and day even though they are so close.
Add the weather along with the twistys and grades and the old hand makes sense. Now I've only driven a truck through 29 states and that's pretty much all I'm going to see on this account. So I'm nobody to make an assessment on most dangerous roads but I will say that I have a healthy respect for 80 in PA as someone who runs it pretty much 6 days a week. I think people seriously underestimate that road and the ability for things to go from bad to much worse in a flash.48Packard, gentleroger and milehunter43 Thank this. -

Where is there a rest stop in Ravenna?? That's my neck of the woods, presently, and i can't think of where it might be
-
I-76 near exit 43 if I remember. East and westbound inline parking. May not be within Ravenna limits but that's where Trucker Path lists it. Westbound is usually good for a late night spot if you dont mind parrelel parking. East is usually more crowded earlier but a u-turn can fix that.SingingWolf Thanks this.
