That is one of the ones I've been considering myself. Does yours have the dashcam on the backside of it? Also, how user friendly is it? can you customize you're roue by drag and drop or waypoints?

No dashcam. I didn't want the dashcam one since it has to be mounted so it's facing directly away from windshield instead of facing me while I drive. Got a separate camera for that.
As far as drag and drop, no. But waypoints, absolutely.

Back at the house until tomorrow afternoon. Then back to the hotel again. It's almost like I'm in the truck already. Work, work, work, day and a half off, work, work, work... :D

Nope lol, just the most expensive one. I've heard good and bad things about it, but figured I don't need anything that fancy. And I don't like anything blocking my view.. too much.

It has its crazy moments, definitely can't rely on it 100% and be fine. But having both Jill and the gps is way way better than just Jill.

Examples of the dumb: it doesn't think that a 10ft section of 15 south from Carlisle to 270 is truck approved. So it'll never route that way and go crazy if you drive it. There's a bridge right outside of Morton salt south of buffalo that it thinks is a low bridge and yet again go crazy. And the entire route to and from big island va is just.. no.

This is why I love maps. If I can pull up google maps or a GPS to see WHERE on a road my destination is I can fill in the rest fairly easily. The difficult part is going to be routing the truck in a way that doesn't get me into too tight of a spot. In my 4 wheeler it's easy since most all roads are available. I look at the roads that I need, write em down on a piece of paper, stick the paper in my pocket and almost never look at it again.

I suppose it will work close to the same with the truck I just have to be a little pickier about the roads I choose.

This is what I have it mounted like right now for the minimal view blocking. If it was a tablet, it would have to point forward instead and that sounds like I'd mount it some weird way. The dash cam is the cobra one I picked up at Costco. The mount it came with sucked big time though, so I managed to attach it to a go pro mount. The camera is ok, but I'm still really considering replacing it with something like a GoPro so I can stop having to wipe the memory card every time I stop.

The TND 70 tablet is basically the same thing as the TND 730 it just comes with an Android OS for downloading and running apps. The TND 70 is also a 7" touch screen so I don't think the dimensions would be that far off. That being said I'm sure you're right about having to mount it differently to utilize the dash cam feature.

Go pros while expensive seem to be worth it. especially if you get one that is a generation old. The price usually drops substantially in that instance. Unless you really want the 4k ability of the GP5 I'd try getting a 3 or a 4.
