I know I have been quiet. My mom passed a few week ago. My Dad died suddenly when I was 16. As I am 51 it seems I am left in charge now. The weird thing is Mom had been failing for years....so hard to watch. This was a tough ok girl. As many of you know I was a boat Captain for over 20 years. I always kinda laughed when I was on duty somewhere and Mom would call and say. "David looks pretty bad you better get to shore". Mom never understand a 200 plus foot yacht could "weather" most anything. I'd also say yes Mom were not going or were heading back to port.

She once caught me in a Captain lie. Mobile Al the USCG had just lost a Helicopter on a training mission...it was late we had seen the helicopter out there. She called and said are you out there did it crash. I said Mom were on the dock but I am pretty sure it went down. She called me the next day as chewed some axx as footage showed us in the search. As you know how moms are she said are they ok. I just said Mom there in a better place. That's where Mom is.

I can tell you this. I went and visited Mom on a Wednesday and got a load back to Denver on Friday. She passed on Saturday and the company I am leased to said we will send a truck from WI. and grab that load to California. No CHARGE. I said nope I got it. Just get me back to Denver ASAP which they did. I took a few weeks off.

I'm back out here Richmond CA. All good

    Be Safe Out There

man, parents are a weird thing and watching them die is even stranger. My dad is in the VA home in Marshalltown IA.......he has Alzheimer's and is slowly dying.... it's hard to know how to act.I want to go see him, but when I do, he doesn't know who I am.......he just tells me that I'm coming to see him today......

best wishes Captain Dave. Your momma's in a better place

Kenton, OH. I tried a new route into Kenton today. It's an extra 7 miles but shaved 26 minutes off my best time of running my old route for the last year and a half. Now I feel stupid.

Pilot exit 101 off of 77. Said screw it and paid for a spot. Didn't want to get stuck with no place "safe AND legal" to park. Was also down to 30 min on my 14 due to some delays throughout the day.
