How many paid mandatory breaks has their work force taken while you sit listening to your 14 tick away?

Everytime I go up to shipping office the break room is full as is the covered smoking area.
It's a joke around here and now they say maybe 2.5 hrs they'll be done. It's ridiculous.
I booked it with the work assignment saying 45 min average load time the other SNI driver just left 12 hrs after he got here.
Lesson learned and I will never ever ever book another load within 100 miles of Southaven MS if I can help it.
What's worse is that customer service offered to take me off the load but can't tell me if I'll get paid for my time here. So I am staying the course and will collect detention til it's ready then I'll get it there when I can. Maybe Monday.Fajo, 91B20H8, mickimause and 1 other person Thank this. -
SLC OC
Good people here and lots'o miles but the OC is a dirt lot joke...has a real trailer trash ambience and just enough junk strewn about to feel authentic.mickimause Thanks this. -

Danville, IL rest area. Pick up in Gibson city tomorrow morning going to Columbus. Then the big dollar load to Harrisburg. Feeling like a load #####, but happy with the money. I just can't say no.

Been rather lax in posting lately...
Back on the road yesterday, of course Little Bit wouldn't start after 7 days of being ignored. Yes, she was plugged in the entire time. Quick jump, no problem there. Loaded easily, 170 miles to deliver, pump sounds really funny...shut it down, start investigating. PTO always sounds like the world is ending when it's cold, nothing unusual there. Plenty of oil in the hydraulic reservoir, but it's solid. Sigh...have I mentioned lately how much I hate cold? Got it thawed out & unloaded. Unhooked, flipped up my Dixie gate, and hear what sounds like a pretty serious air leak. Mutter, mutter, cold, stupid weather, mutter... Dixie gate valve is venting merrily, and it's not a driver-repairable leak. Called shop, headed that way (compressor running more than normal, but keeping up without an issue), stopped to answer nature's call...it's not venting anymore. Too bad, we're going to the shop anyway...not taking chances with an air leak. Didn't make it back to get loaded last night, dispatcher kinda cranky this morning because he got an 'emergency' order from a place I haven't loaded from (so have to go during business hours to get "trained") and I wasn't gonna be able to get it done. Don't blame me for you not getting me through there when we were slow...
Anyhow, got two loads delivered today and am at the rest area, sb mm 99, US 131 in the arctic circle...
