I'm somewhere in the nw corner of NC with a couple of notes.
Charlotte OC can get ####ed. The drop trailer area is crammed full of DTS and sold trailers. Wedged my tbo mt into a spot that I passed up the first time as being tighter than I'd like. At the tightest point had 2 inches on the sight side, 6 inches on the blind and less than a foot between my nose and the trailer opposite
My high value relay didn't leave the bag on the king pin lock and installed it upside down, making it a pain to unlock. I'd be a little cranky about all the grease over my gloves except they were already ruined from the hub seal leak yesterday.
North Carolina is currently viewing with Atlanta for stupidest drivers. Idiots causing accidents and near misses all day long. One fellow almost ended up with my grill in his backseat as he tried to cut over two lanes to make an exit. As soon as he started moving I was slowing down but there's only so much a fellow can do. Thank god he got back on the fuel for a couple of seconds. The best part - ongaurd didn't beep until AFTER HE WAS ####ING GONE.
End of the day has me goat pathing on US 158. It was Jill's and Rand's prefered route and there were reports of more accidents taking the longer, interstate route so I figured what the heck. 3/4 of the way come up on a major button hook, no biggie, wait for my opening take the whole road, safely clear the turn but get honked at by the schmuck behind me whose kissed I'm holding him up. As soon as I look down the road I see a 13'6" bridge with freshish looking asphalt underneath. I roll up slowly with 4 ways on and it looks tight. I stop with my nose underneath, pop the brakes and GOAL (its not just for going backwards). I've got about an inch of clearance so I creep thru with jackwad behind me honking the whole time. I'm a reasonably patient guy who doesn't take too much personally, but the schmuck had me two honked away from setting my brakes and relieving his vehicle of noise making devices.
Get to the Pilot and get nervous about finding a spot because of all the people parked in the driveway/fire lane. 6 single spaces, 3 double wide and one triple wide space open - for those who don't want to take off their shoes and socks 13 open parking spots and the entire flipping driveway is crammed with illegally parked trucks.
To top they things off I get to go to Jacksonville tomorrow. Which means I'll either get popped for a random drug test or sit all day waiting for my next load.
One more week and then I get a vacation.91B20H8 Thanks this. -

hahahahahahah were you headed to Garysburg? US-158 is only worth taking if you're cruising at zero-dark-thirty otherwise just take I-40 and then 540 around Raleigh then catch 64 up to 95. That little goatpath with that 13-6.00000000" bridge in Norlina is always good. I would always crawl through there if I was taking that route at night, especially with an empty trailer if you go through there too quick all it would take is a little bounce to smack up in to the upper side of that little bridge. That right turn sucks *** too if you're headed east through there as well just before the bridge. That collection of truckstops along 95 near the NC/VA border on 95 ALWAYS has parking. The Hess not too far on the VA side is decent and usually wide open even at night while the pilot across the street only has 1-2 spots. If you get a chance stop by Sadlers' and grab a burger from 5-guys.91B20H8, gentleroger and TennMan Thank this.
