Florida is good if you enjoy a lot of home time.

Snowbirds don't move, they migrate!

Jacksonville is about the furthest south I would move before getting into the poor freight area.
Being an OTR driver pays the same no matter where you live. Pick some place cheap and your dollar will go farther.Mattchu Thanks this. -
Depends on the company and what you're hauling. If you do a lot of reefer loads, you'll probably be in Florida semi-frequently. Flatbed, not so much.

texas? nevada? lol, state tax free and warm. south dakota too. I will ask that question again? a better place to base out of? I can entirely relocate and intend to do so.. thanks Mattchu for asking this question.

Texas, from that list.
If you have family that can recieve your mail and a storage unit. then live in the truck and get a motel for your days off and a rental car. That way you can dip your toes in the waters at many locations..... -
I'm telling you all...Michigan keeps going downhill. I was born in a very strong state..now it just went right to work (against the will of the people), cold as ever, industry leaving and taxed to death, a lot of people living off entitlement and at all the indian casinos. It's just not what it used to be. I'm not against right to work, actually like it, however, sliding it into Michigan was not really a good thing to do in my opinion. My sister worked for kimberly clark co. for the past 20 years. She just heard today their plant in grand rapids metro is closing in 6months.. http://www.mlive.com/business/west-...sure_of_longtime_belmont_mi.html#incart_river 180 full time jobs gone poof!
I'm thinking Texas is the right approach. A lot of nice roads to drive on there. -
Depends on where you want to live mostly...lot of freight runs through the I40/I85/I95 corridor......
Chinatown Thanks this. -
As in Freight, Atlanta would be my choice. Working under a contractor but being the one choosing the loads, I always got a good money makin load there.

Yea state tax free and warm sounds good. I am sick of the New England winters.. been working outside every year and in the line of work I am in (electrician) its really slow around here, and always wanted to drive truck but just toughed out the electrician thing to try and make it work, but it cant work, if there is no work.
