Yup. Just give it time. You're going to run into that one dot inspector who a dick and he's going to say these words "can you print this out for me so I could look at it" and then you're going to say no. And he's going to pull out the big ol book of written rules and he's going to read it out loud to you and then he's going to have one of his dot buddies come over talk about it then he's going to put you out of service or give you a ticket for being unable to provide them with the log book. Keep being smart and you'll see.. It already happen to me after months of using and then at the 72hour blitz they got me. Be carful.
Electronic logging apps and programs that are not getting movement data from the vehicle to determine when the driver is driving are basically an electronic version of a paper log, and are regulated under the “regular” log requirements in §395.8. One key point to using such electronic logging apps and programs is that the driver must be able to print his/her logs on demand during a roadside inspection)

I don't think you get it. New driver right?
The law is written in text. I went on the page copied and pasted the section for you where it states that you need to be able to print it. was the officer wrong? No. But I also wasn't aware that I had to carry a printer until I was in the situation. -
I've had my laptop log book checked 3X in the last 6 years........
1st time dot looked at the laptop and said "OOoo" and handed it back......
2nd time dot looked at it and said "how do I know if your out of hours...?" told him the screen would be red if I was over...."ok then"
3rd time was in Utah he looked at it and said "go printout todays and bring in your last 7 days also" -
I'll just run paper in Utah. Thanks lol
S M D Thanks this. -
IF THEY ASK YOU TO PRINT IT OUT for any reason doesn't have to be any specific reason just if they ask you and you can't give them a copy you're getting in trouble and that's a fact. I have been checked a lot,of times too they look at it and have me scroll back last 7 days no problem.
This is coming from the csa webpage why do you guys feel like we need to discuss it. It's a written and published rule. If they ask you to print it out and you can't you're getting a ticket. Not saying they will but it's a matter of time. I didn't have a printer for a long time either. Until after I got hit with the book and out out of service. -
I can have the office fax it or i can email it and then they can print it out. I don't need a printer in my truck, let's just agree to disagree.
