How many trucks have been significantly different during the 10 hours from post trip to pre trip?

If you have a full tank of gas you won't make it 5 or 6 minutes.

As far as running nothing says you have to stop at all once you get rolling except your 30 minute break.

Your kidding... Out of any given day of my driving. I have witnessed 10 on average on my route on the side of the road with triangles up. And can say these guys didn't expect to be on the side of the road that way.

I can say I've witnessed a lot of company drivers get up in the morning go take a piss. Come back start their truck and drive away. While I'm pre- tripping my truck. Checking tire pressure not just 'thumping" the rubber. Checking fluid levels looking for any issues before I leave. As I'm driving down the road I will see one of the "pee and drive" trucks on the side with hood up. And not from overheating.

Don't get me wrong I'm not just singling out company drivers. O/O are just the same. Drivers must understand diesels trucks change daily. Its not just fuel and go. This vehicle carries your life from place to place, its your office.

I'll get off my soap box now.

  6. Sorry to be specific on the post to pre trip difference. I've watched a truck as he stopped and parked burn to the ground cause he didn't check his truck after. So a check of your ride is pretty much a no-brainer. How can u not walk around it looking it over. If you drive a skateboard your checking your ride alot anyway? Yes?

There were times when I had full tank off gas and Drivng 4 hours ,then run into construction delays etc....which became total of 6 hours, During that time frame I haven't stopped once to do a walk around, go down to on-duty for 15 mins and then come back up to drive..
One guy is telling me a friend of the family that if you were to get pulled over and the sherif/DOT sees you drove that long straight with out going down to on duty for 15 mins you'll get fined... He's telling me that you have to do that every 3hrs
    Is this true?

    Thanks
    Johnny

I have been logging post trip for years...on paper logs and now eclipse logs I flag pre trip but only show five min or so I show a full 15mim and the end of my day. I have never received a ticket or warning for anything log book related.

Not sure how long you been flatbedding but once I secure my load its good for the ride don't matter if its 50miles or 1,500 miles only 10% of my loads I ever check again and those are mostly tarp loads!

  10. They can be sticklers. About change of duty status. You can run a flag down on the comment section, being its done under 7.5 min. As a DOT bear told me. And just flag. "Load check". Being you stopped walk around your truck checking chains or straps or shrink wrap. Then back in to drive on. Shrink wrap is another DOT story. But they look at that long ### 6 hour line and wonder. Did you ever stop to check your load or pee for that matter. That's their tiff most times.

    keepontrucking81 Thanks this.

  11. I want your chains and straps.

The reason for the load check 50 to 100 miles or 2 hours. Is. Bed flex, load settles and chain and strap stretch. If your able to take them and make them tight enough to remove those abilities. Then you've saved yourself time.

A majority of loads I've hauled have some settling due to vibration and weight on the bed.

I'm not saying. Full revolutions on a strap winder or chain binder. One to three clicks is what I consider.

So what products are you mostly hauling?
