I work for a construction company that never left the area, was bought out by another company and never left the yard, now as of last week running a couple
    states.
My Questions are when running logs(new to me) where do they come up with a 7 digit truck number(I use license plate number), and im kinda confused on the miles driving today part. Is total miles drove today only one i need to fill out?
    Thanks in advance

The truck number is any way to identify the truck...typically either by a number assigned to the truck by the motor carrier, or by the license plate. It could be 1 digit...or it could be several.

There may be two blanks for miles, just like there is probably a space for a co-driver. Total miles driving today is the number of miles you drove....YOUR miles, from the time YOU spent on line 3. Total miles today includes any miles driven by a co-driver while you were in the sleeper or in the jump seat. If you don't have a co-driver, you'll write the same number (how many miles you drove today) in both spaces. You could probably get away with leaving the "total miles today" space blank (since you don't have a co-driver) and just using the "total miles driving today"....but it doesn't take more than a second or two to write your mileage for the day down a second time to eliminate any questions a DOT occifer might have on the side of the road.

Many thanks my friend. I am not sure of the future of this company but we appear to be expanding job locations frther and farther away from home and I just hope to run as legal as i can. thanks again.
