I am flying to Nashville to pick up another truck ...I have to move it to Wichita to put in service do I need to print out last week's e logs and keep a paper log or is this all considered driving a personal vehicle until it's in service

I would say until it has commercial or prorate plates it's a personal vehicle, somepeople might say I'm wrong though.

Print them out, take them with you. You will need to log it.

You know how it goes, if you do not have them, you will need them, and if you have them it will be easier doing the previous 7 days.

Glad this thread got posted, I will be flying out to get a truck to bring home in the next couple of weeks as well, but I run all local and don't log normally. I was curious on how to go about this? Just fill out the log book for the 8 days before as off duty when im not working and exempt when I am? ( I haul local ag)

I recommend logging for a couple reasons, even if you claim it is personal vehicle because of a lack of commercial plates, when that DOT officer ask for the log book, you can hand him it and that is one less bit of BS they can ding you with.

If you have the time, why would you not?
Plus some states (PA for example) everything over x weight is either a CMV or RV, there is no middle ground.

So call it an RV and go on your merry way, last I heard no RV needs logs.
