I figured you didn't! But you know, if the DOT officer decides to cut my seal.... There really isn't much I can do about it! Except for break out the video camera & hope I have enough memory left on it!

I had a drom box on a 53 Flat spread that had a single swing door,it could be sealed.
Usually the orange 1.4 described all that was needed because DOT never messed with it.
DOT is not EOD so they never asked, some cops are pretty smart :biggrin_2559:

I still want to know what i'm supposed to do when department of homeland security informs me that they are searching my cab? They didn't ask or anything. It was kind of an odd thing in my opinion. They told me to get out and told me where to stand. But what am i going to do? say no? It was just a real quick search for people though. basically just moved my blankets to make sure no one was hiding under them. lol.

you sure have the perfect username to respond to a post like THAT.

Never did quite understand why everyone wants to argue with the man with the gun. Who cares if they break your seal? If they document it properly, whats the harm?

    Picssss?

Peanut Butter I have yet had a shipper, reciever,or a company tell me to have DOT call prior to them opening the Trailer. I also had only 1 load checked in Az. due to it being a produce load.

MAN THIS THREAD GOT SOME LEGS, DIDN'T IT?

to answer your question ( man, i'm probably gonna regret this), you received a ticket in boone county indiana, where i retired as a police officer (not a trooper) a few years back after an off the job injury. you probably were slated into thorntown court, and i can promise judge vaugn is more interested in your guilt or innocense than your correct birthday. the judge is fair, and has at times lowered offenses, but not without a very good reason, and not very often. knowing and working with the local police officers, judges and prosecutors, i doubt you will get out of any of the charges provided everything you have said here is accurate.

a bunch of you armchair lawyers and hotheads ought to consider your position when dealing with l.e.o. types. being a ####### is usually a 2 way street, just as being decent about the entire situation is. these days i'm an owner operator. i run regional since i have many doctor appointments and some complications from having my neck broken and sometimes need to be home. from the days when i was working as a police officer, i have had some experiance with commercial drivers, and most all were decent enough, and were not issued any paperwork. my feelings were that a ticket to a commercial driver was also a ticket to his or her family since that is how eveyone in the family would eat and live.

there were exceptions, and usually the driver talked him or her self into the ticket. it was the mouth, and additude that got them the ticket. most of the time, i would call the company safety department and ask them if they wanted to handle the problem or if they wanted me to do it. that was the end of the problem. not once did i give the driver a ticket in that circumstance. only a mouthy know it all got the "business", and in those cases, not a single one of them got out of any ticket. not one. in 15 years, that amounted to a very few drivers.

friendly advise. shut up! close your mealy mouth, and just shut up! you have the right to remain silent, so use it! your remedy isn't on the side of the road, but in court. the same as it is for anyone. as for the stupid comment about "we are gonna have a problem if anyone tries to cut a seal", most cops. including me back then would say "bring it". there's always room for one more at the jail, and the tow truck is standing by. you can complain to your new roomie as you are trying to get him off of your backside. or not, depending on what you are into...(not being judgemental here).

honestly. things go better when folks use common sense. they really do.
