Log book Violation

You are required to ask permission first, correct? As is the situation with most states, I believe. I, personally would think that an officer must first ask permission of the driver to enter the vehicle (its our home after all). Please, correct me if I am wrong.

How about the little scam NY has with "cousin Bob" at the end of the Rest Area charging an "arm and leg" to fix the violations found by his "other brother Darryl" the cop running inspections at the opening of the Rest Area.

 

Say, just curious here - But what is the expected daily revenue target set at, regarding NYC truck "safety inspection infractions"? I'm thinking you could suck, what, a thousand bucks/day outta truck drivers? Is that figgure high or low, just curious..!?!?!?!

BTW, how many drivers have you hand cuffed because they told you they were not letting you into their personal sleeping quarters, or truck?

And what happens to the truck itself, while your newfound criminal truck driver is hauled downtown?

I'm certainly glad to hear NYC is cracking down on this crime. I will feel much safer next time I head into your splendid friendly little village....

I personally feel these 'officers' go after truckers because, frankly, it's a heck of a lot safer than attempting an arrest on a 'real' crimminal.

Think about it, pulling over a gang members transporting drugs has the potential for the 'officer' to be shot in the process.

On the other hand, pulling over truckers and treating them like crap, likely yields no such violent response.

 

On the birthday mistake; NOPE, even cops are allowed to make mistakes.
HOWEVER, you MIGHT be able to demonstrate WHY you made a mistake and the Judge MIGHT dismiss them for that.

 

INDIANA does NOT reduce tickets in the manner you describe. Or at least that is what they told me when I got a "Left-Lane Violation" a couple years ago.

 

BULLCRAP. In over 18 years of driving I have NEVER had to get out of MY truck so an inspecting officer could verify ANYTHING you said. They have ALWAYS directed ME to perform the "Low Air warning test".

You ARE NOT given the right to inspect ANYTHING in the sleeper, UNLESS you see something that indicates I am committing a crime. And you WOULD need "reasonable cause" (a search warrant short of that) to search my "luggage".
If I am a SINGLE DRIVER, there is NO NEED to determine if I have an "occupant restraint system".
That "adequate bedding"??? THAT was REMOVED from the FSCMA OVER 30 YEARS AGO.
And if you think that your badge gives you the right to open my trailer with-out cause. Try it sometime. See what happens.

 

Short of reasonable cause (he has to SEE something that indicates a law is being broken) or a search warrant, YOU are correct.
