Pretty much the same here in my neck of the woods.
I'm not sure what you mean by any of that, lol, but i drive an older Mack day cab with a 10 speed. What are hay racks, mule trains and pole trailers?
Yea, the trucks do take a good beating running off road and yes, the pay has been real good but we put in some long days too.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.
-
Yes, not to far from you. I used to have a place in Woodland, Wa.
You know i think eventually a loggin, wood products, sub-forum would grow. Lots of people employed in it. People looking to move off the road away from the mega-crap.
The impression from most folks is that most jobs in trucking are OTR. I can understand why a form is needed to complain about the situation there. There are now and will be in the future more that will be interested in staying in trucking but getting away from the mega-crap. -

This guy does not have the prettiest NW equipment but he has the best website I have found on NW logging. -
Just happened to come by this section. I'm a city slicker down in T-town.
I'm kind of a misfit here too. I have a Pete 379 with a boom mounted to it for my construction business. I mostly hang out over in the garage to learn about the mechanics of my truck. A dedicated forum would be nice for trucks that have equipment mounted to them but I don't know how much interest there would be. -
I drive through Woodland every day to and from work,my truck parks in Kalama.
Love that site, been there a few times and enjoyed the pics.
Maybe we could bundle construction/logging/AG etc. in one forum. -
I like that idea. Some of the better driving jobs are in those fields. It would get people away from thinking driving for mega-crap is the only way to use a CDL.
-
Lol wat exactly do you call a normal log truck with a normal lets say Pitts trailer
-
The truck might be the same but the conditions they operate in are much different.

If your talking this: http://www.pittstrailers.com/Log_Trailers.html
That is a Hayrack in the PNW. Not sure why it got that name but it may be cause they are only used to haul what we consider trash wood. They are seldom used in the forrest. They are just too heavy and turn to slow to get around narrow forrest logging roads. You cannot turn them around on a landing full of logs and equipment and they are hard to back up the narrow hillside road up to a landing.
The pole trailer is the NW favorite, followed by the mule train. Both of those trailers can be racked or loaded on the the truck making it easier to back up to the landing. Racking will also add weight to the drive wheels so the truck can back up the grade to the landing.
The hayrack is usually used to take the less desirable wood to a chipping facility from the sawmill that rejected the wood. -
Ok gotcha the earlier one looked like a lowboy with standards. Around hear it's either two or three bunk trailers or 2 bunk straight trucks that are used.
