I know a guy who says he brings home $5,000.00 a week driving a log truck. I'm certain that isn't true. Any ideas on what the average pay is for a log truck driver?

from what I've seen the pay is hourly $5000 seems a bit out of this world

That honestly sounds like what an O/O truck would gross a week before any other expenses.

With my dad's logging company he pays the drivers 25% of gross to start and then up from there after they've been around a while.

Either that or what one of the crude haulers would have been grossing as a company driver when diesel was $4.50 a gallon.

Most of the ones I inquired about around Alabama and Mississsppi paid between $45 to $55 a load with most of the runs 120 miles round trip, 3 to 4 round trips a day max.

I don't know about Virginia but out here the truck might make 5000 a week but the driver won't. A log truck driver in our part of the country can make around a grand a week if everything goes right. And, since it's logging, nothing goes right very often.
