i know that situation all to well with no parking @ a customer or if there is room for parking, once u load/unload u have to vacate the premises immediately; can't stand those types, especially wal-mart dc's

Its miserable if you have to "camp out" all hot and sweaty.

Blind, how is the flatbedding going on your knees? After 21 years in the Infantry, I am worried climbing up and down the flatbed will do it's toll..

you not telling me nothing that i haven't done before, lol. i know what u mean all tooo well; but, what i do in a case like such is i carry me a few gallons of water along with usual shower stuff & go behind truck in shorts & clean up that way. it's not the best but it does til i can grab the first shower i can (which is something i don't do often but always keep those things for emergencies)

Hey guy, my knees are doing fine as frog hair. If I get onto, or off of the trailer deck, I climb up either on the cat walk or the D.O.T. bumper. My body's holding up fine. My arms hurt like you wouldnt believe for a couple of weeks thanks to the straps and bungees. Its good now though. Pain free, except for having to deal with other truck drivers. Lol. As for the make shift shower, I love me some baby wipes. The hardest thing for me out here is time management. And I have always had great time management skills. Thats my biggest hurdle now. Im sure that will go away in time.

These were all my issues this past week. However being in the Northeast there are not a lot of truck stops. I got caught in a bad situation and my lack of experience took it's toll on me.

Yeah Jeff, I hate to hear about what had happened. Thats tough man. I tell ya, sometimes it doesnt matter if there is 4 truck stops. Finding a good place to take your 10 can be real hard. The only thing I like about truck stops is fuel & showers. I prefer to do my business and then get away from there. My favorite place to shut down is a rest area. Just my opinion. Hows things going for you Jeff?

I am feeling better and I have been reading a lot of post about planning while on the road. I have some hoops to jump through for TMC but I am confident that I will be back at it next week. It has been tough sitting here and wondering how TMC would see what happened to me. They have been very good the last few days. My truck in Buffalo will be taken to the Indy terminal. They said my personal stuff will be there and at some point I can be routed through to pick it up. Until then I get to buy another map and shower bag with all the necessities for that. The only thing I am concerned with is my passport is in the truck in my "shower" bag and would like that back quickly. Totally out of my wits that day and left it behind. Blind I was told about the TQM class. They have it on June 23 and again on July 14. I will be taking this class. Time management and trip planning. On a Saturday at Des Moines.

Also I like rest areas better. I just have to plan better to get the shower in. I am getting that mini refridge/cooler from walmart and the lunch box oven. I will be better equipped I know that much. This has truly been a learning experience but man it made me feel like a complete fool. Will not let that happen again if I can help it.:biggrin_2556:

Rest areas are my favorite too, but a perfect day lands at a truck stop so I can take my shower without wasting my clock. I have been starting my days by 5am so I'm shutting down early enough to usually have no problem finding a spot. Glad you're doing better Jeff. I hope you find things better once you have all your supplies in truck.
