Yes u have to work the book to you're advantage. If you wait for five hours wait another five and finish the break. First off if you start your week crappy it continues crappy. You'll learn tricks with time thats were tqm comes in handy they'll show you alot. Remember you only have to log half an hour for loading and unloading. It may take you more but it doesnt mean you log it. Some guys dont like that but if you ask me you do what you gotta do. And no offence blind but it sounds like you're not getting through to them. Who is you fm and team leader? Be stern but polite it goes along way. Dont hang up untill you get what you want. Its not impossible and it may be hard but tmc is probably the best flatbed or for that matter carrier out there. You'll end up regretting leaving trust me. If you need help im more than willing to give some advice. Tip #1 and im not telling you to do it but every ELECTRONIC device plugs in. Just be smart about it.

First of all, thank you for this thread Blind, I appreciate all the info you're providing. I graduated class today, got my license Monday of this week and I'm ready to get a job. I have applied to about 13 companies and have only heard back from TMC. In fact I need to call Gus in about an hour to see how my background check is going. Anyway, I've been looking into driving since 2009 and TMC has been toward the top of my list since day one. However, after reading this entire thread I'm really beginning to have second thoughts on joining them.
Thank you again for your input here, it's going to really help my decision.Blind Dog Thanks this. -
There's good and bad to every company I would think. Blind is having the very bad. My experience has had good and bad, but seems to be doing good lately. I get home every weekend unless I choose to stay out. I have trouble with the loading and unloading at places every week just like everyone does. Just Monday I sat for 6 hours waiting to get loaded. It happens everywhere and nothing TMC can do about that. The money has been pretty good and with the new snapshot, my percentage is going up. FM is most important person to determine your success. If you are not getting treated right, switch. This is who I wanted to drive for and so far it looks like a good fit for me.
Blind Dog Thanks this. -

Alrighty, its time for an update. I drove 497 miles today from where I parked last night to the consignee today. My appointment was at 1400. I rolled in at 1630. I stopped once for fuel, and once fpr load check pee break. I actually had to shut down due to my 11 hour clock, instead of the usual 14 hour. The guys at the dairy on loaded me. I was really nervous that they wouldnt due to the time. We laughed and joked and carried on. They even helped me untarp, fold tarps, and roll up my straps.
Anywho, I sent my empty macro in, remember Im supposed to be headed south now. I have to bounce down to the shipper to pick ip some steel rod, then I have to take it to Michigan. The load doesnt deliver until monday. Yup, you read right, monday. So I guess I will spend another weekend away from my house. Apparently there are some readers here that think I "goof off" instead of rolling. I do my best.to follow tmc's s.o.p. I do my required load checks, fuel when Im supposed to, follow the route Im supposed to. I have decided to give up the fight. I cant fight everybody. Im probably being done this way due to how I have been talking to my fm? Anyhow, you heard it first. Blind Dog is not gonna fight anymore. Ive been wiped one to many times. From now on I will try the " yes sir, no sir, three bags full" approach. I realise that Im a rookie in the trucking industry, but Im not a turd. I do follow orders.jeff1971 Thanks this. -
kill them with kindness, and next time you are in Iawo try to go see your FM face to face and have a man to man talk (nice) with him and try to get back on his good side. dont let that room full of computer nerds push you out of a job you love. let them know the most important thing to you is hometime, but that might mean crappie paying loads toward the end of the week but tell them home is more important...good luck dog.

Ivs already had a face to face with my fm. I dont know whats going on, I only know I dont like it. In my mind theres no reason to keep having me out on the weekends. Im eventually gonna get home. The inner battle for me, is once I get home, do I go ahead and empty out the truck?

If you do empty the truck, do you plan on trucking still?
