Blind so glad you got that weekend thing worked out with the FM. Well this week has been much of the same. I have decided to name my truck "Patience". Lord is really teaching me patience with this job. So this week I drove a big truck in Canada. I went to Canada yesterday and hope I never have to go again. Delivered a load of insulation there and bounced back to Oswego, NY. Loaded Aluminum coils there and well I sit now in a flying J 48 miles away from consignee. Will deliver in the morning then 162 mile bounce to get shingles for NC. I get to go home!

your delivering in virginia then. I have been there many of times.

First and foremost I would like to thank Blind Dog for starting this thread, I have found it to be one of the most informative threads in my quest of becoming a truck driver. I will be starting class on Monday 7/9 at the Truck Driving Academy here in southern Ohio. I am currently a corrections officer at a state prison, I am not happy with my job and have'nt been since I started over 11 years ago. I'm not knocking my job, after all they are paying for my CDL training through the union education fund. It's just not a career that I'm happy with. I have always been interested in being a truck driver and with being single for the past few years and with a daughter that will be starting college this fall and mature enough to watch over the house should I be gone all week, I feel that NOW is the time for me to make my move! What led me to this tread was a former co-worker (corrections officer) who recently quit corrections to drive a truck. He is driving locally and making less money than he was working at the prison but says he and his family are much happier with his career change, he has a wife and 3 small kids at home. He told me if he was in my situation with kids grown that TMC would be his first choice. I'm leaning towards TMC but even though I'm single I would like to spend my weekends at home. Just wondering what are my chances with being home on weekends living in southern Ohio driving for TMC?
Blind Dog Thanks this. -
