If your going to TQM in DSM stop in at the Iowa 80. If in Joplin stop at the Petro right across the street.
Thanks guy. Ill try to remember that. Ive never been to the joplin terminal. My favorite is gaston, if anybody cares. Im down for 10 at my shipper. I arrived this morning, on time, to my consignee. A construction site. I sat there for 5 hours. You read that right, 5 hours. So they give me an easy load. Bounce back down to Louisville. I sit at the shipper for 3 1/2 hours. Ran my clock out. Well, no shower tonight. So I grab my shaving kit, wash cloth, and towel and head to the mensroom. There I stand in my skivies washing in the sink. Hey, its better than nothing. They had a microwave they let me use. A good wash job and a hot meal, itll almost make you feel good. So now Im laging on my bunk, fighting to stay awake. Ive got the engine running( there goes my mpg) but Ive got the a/c blowing good. So with that, I say "Peace!!!"
Another day logged. Im down for 10 at Gerdau steel in Ky. Took me about 4 hours to load, secure, and tarp. Im hauling big steel beams. I wasnt sure how to secure it so I called safety. They said chains and binders every 4 feet. I only have 9 binders though. So I threw 2 straps.where the last chain would have went. I didnt mind using chains, I dont mind tarping the load, thats flatbedding. What took so long was waiting for my turn at the tarp station. Alot of rude people out there. At a tarp station, roll out your tarps and position them how you want them, then get out of the way so other drivers can tarp. Really??? You can tighten and bungee your tarp anywhere. So anyhow, Im out of hours. So once again, Im standing at a sink in the mens restroom washing myself off. If anybodys counting, thats 2 days. Ive not "showered" since I left my house on sunday. Maybe tomorrow?
Sorry DC that I haven't responded sooner. I went to Thomasville, NC to the Lowe's DC there. I then bounced 70 miles or so to Roaring River, NC to Louisiana Pacific. This load has brought me to Tampa, FL. I am up early and currently waiting till 9am which is my appointment time. Just going to lay here and read my book and pray. Then will call my lady and get my dose of home. Still tough for me to be gone. The toughest part for me to learn so far and not afraid to admit that at all.
jeff believe me when i tell u as time goes by it will get a bit easier to be away from home & talking on the phone with ur wife/girlfriend and/or kids, it makes it a whole lot easier but still not the same, i know, been doing it 20 yrs
So how are you liking TMC? I hear they hire a lot of Veterans and I'm separating from the Air Force soon. I have been seriously considering this company. I know you can take a per mile pay or percentage and just wondered which you thought was better. I need a job where I can make about $45K a year take home, is this possible to accomplish at this company withouht killing myself in the process?
