As long as you're with in 7 or 8 miles from where you're delivering in the morning And you don't start your logbook you should be able to make it home tomorrow I just looked at my map. That also depends on where they get you loaded and how long it takes them to actually load you. I would say you're only 9 and a half hours from where you live
Yup, your right. But....... one thing Ive learned is that there are too many variables in this job. Anything can happen, at no fault to TMC or myself. Just outside influences. Drivers know what Im talking about. This week was a hard week for me. I got detained everywhere I went. Not just a little either, Im talking hours. But thats cool because my "boy" helped me to learn how to deal with that. Anywho, I'll keep ya posted as to the adventures of Blind Dog Trucking. Thats was actually pretty cool sounding, wasnt it?? Oh, I gotta say it. I havent said it lately. " Throw me a frickin bone" ( spoken like Dr. Evil)
Hey Blind, and everybody else for that matter.......How is your family handling you not being home as much as you'd like? That's something that I think is a pretty important aspect of trucking I think. I got out of the navy a few years ago because I didn't want to deploy a third time to the sandbox and leave my wife at home to fend for herself. Tell me what you think
Im gonna shoot straight with ya. My wife HATES it!! Especially because TMC promises weekends at home, and for whatever reason, they keep me out for 3 weeks at a time. If, IF I made it home every weekend, my wife would "tolerate" it better? But right now she hates it and doesnt support it. Thats another of my battles that I have to deal with while out here. I left a 24 year career because of MAJOR burnout. Would I do it again? Im leaning towards " probably not."
Well, I just sent my empty macro in. My fm is off today. Lets wait and see whats coming up next........
A week in review from me......I delivered Monday morning in Thomasville, NC so blind I know there are loads going south in Ohio. I then took a load of siding from Roaring River, NC to Tampa, Florida. While there I got to have dinner with one of my best friends. It was really nice to see a old friend and hang out for just a couple hours. I then trailer swapped in Frostproof, Florida (I laugh at that name). I grew up in Florida and never heard of this town before. I took a pre-loaded trailer to a Lowe's store in Florence, SC. I then bounced 40 miles to Bennettsville. Loaded some particle board and was home at 6pm est. I will gladly take a extra day at home! Blind still praying for you brother and your wife!
I passed a TMC Truck on 64 today but the trailer was a tarped like trailer with the sliding curtains on the side.
Thanks for your input. I really appreciate your candor and honesty. I'm looking very closely at TMC as one of the companies to apply to. As well as PGT. Is the pay still decent for all your time away? How does it compare to 24yr ARMY pay? 8yr E-6 Navy pay was about 1800 every two weeks, but that was only because of Calif. BAH and Comrats. T/Y Nick
