Is if safe for me to "assume" that the ones that are no longer posting here are no longer employed?

That could be or they don't have the time I guess. I will stay active on here. Gotta do something to pass the time with on breaks. I will be testing in Columbia. Hopefully my truck will be there also! Still looking for your truck when we pass one. Let you know my number when I know!

I decided to go with TMC myself. I have been working overseas the past 6 years after retiring from the Army and decided that in December I am finished being away from the US.. I will turn in all my vacation days for cash and head to Roadmaster in Indy.. While I am in, I will apply to TMC and take it from there.. I just hope my body isn't too old for the work. I turn 46 next month.. I chose TMC because they have the Apprentice program and I will get my GI Bill payments while I am driving (Around $1400.00 or so a month) and the TMC pay isn't bad.. The trucks are nice also but thats not the main reason.. Oh, they also have the Indy terminal and I live right there..

I like that your paid for your performance. If you hire on, when they put you with your driver trainer, there is a work sheet for you to fill out. It willcompare mileage pay vs percentage. Uou ne the judge. Good luck to you.

You guys will not be disappointed. My four weeks with my trainer finished today. I am home and will head to Columbia on Sunday evening. Inbd, you are not to old. I am 41 and my trainer was 45. I will not say its a cake walk tarping a load, it's work brother. I just know I don't want to look like some of the drivers I have seen so I will stick with Flatbedding! Also thank you for your service to our country!

    Thanks, Jeff..

I hear ya.. I do not mind doing the extra work getting the load secure. It will keep you in better shape.. Also, when it comes to learning and getting used to the process of calculating your hours driving, off duty, reset, etc...? I tried reading about it and it got a little confusing.. One guy was talking about taking his 36 since it was close to his reset, or something like that.. lol

There are going to be several things that overwhelm you or will not make sense until you actually do it. Logs were the same for me. I employ the KISS method. "Keep it simple stupid" works for me. From the time I start my clock I have 14 hours that I can drive 11 hours. I found during training that if I were solo I would run my 14 out long before hitting 11 driving. Just my experience with shippers and also it will take me a little longer to get things done with tarping and such for a couple of weeks. I have enjoyed every minute of this though. Yes I am totally nervous about my own truck but also excited.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments on this thread. I am starting school in Rochester NY on 6.6 and am looking to start at TMC upon graduation in July. I'll contribute as I go along as well.
